- Represent clients on a state and federal level.- Meet with clients in person, as well as virtually and by phone, to review facts, build a case and develop case strategies.- Research cases by interviewing witnesses, reviewing evidence, and speaking with the client.- Research case law, statutes, crimes codes, and procedural law.- Where applicable, negotiate with the prosecution to plea bargain to lesser charges.- Draft, file and argue motions such as motions to suppress, pre-sentence report addendums, and motions for pretrial release.- Attend all pretrial hearings on behalf of clients and advise clients following each hearing about the best strategies.- Conduct trials and/or administrative proceedings as necessary.

- Prosecute and assist in civil and criminal misdemeanor cases – from intake to trial; Independently manage caseload.- Conduct docket calls, jail docket hearings, plea bargain negotiations, prepare trial docket on assigned days.- Work closely with local law enforcement on legal proceedings, Conduct necessary research on applicable laws- Communicate with victims and witnesses for case updates, participate in weekly team training exercises.

- Responsibilities include doing arraignments, traveling to various counties to appear on client’s behalf, traffic ticket pleas, pretrial hearings, civil hearings, settlement conferences, trials, protective order hearings, and sentence hearings.- Interview witnesses, performing legal research, creating exhibits for demonstrations in court, estate planning, child custody/child support reduction hearings, bond reduction hearings, felony/misdemeanor pleas.- Negotiate plea bargains, jail release, contact various law enforcement agencies for client investigations.

Assistant Attorney (Student Attorney)

- Plan and Organize events synonymous with the promotion of ALSA as well as Thurgood Marshall School of Law

- Assist with law student affairs- Assist faculty and staff - Event coordination

- Assume personal responsibility for assisting indigent individuals charged with misdemeanors, mental , juvenile cases and felonies such as criminal sexual assaults, armed robberies and homicides. - Provide effective representation to clients who are frequently illiterate, uneducated and uncooperative while managing large caseloads. - Handle arraignment court and bond court. Meets with clients when arrested and obtains their history to make bond arguments to the court. Maintains working relationship with clients in person, by phone and by mail contact. - Handle and negotiates pleas with District Attorneys.- Maintain extensive contact with the State's Attorney's Office, social service agencies, Correctional facilities staff, police, Secretary of State, State Forensic authorities, State Ciminal Lab, pathologists and the Coroner's Office. - Maintain frequent contact with the Department of Family Services, Department of Mental Health and agencies regarding the referral of clients for drug treatment, family counseling and other assistance.

- Analyze, research, and administer the tracking of final documents and work closely with Nationstar employees, our custodian, and vendors to facilitate lien releases.- Register, track, and ship collateral files/documents.- Explore and analyze files for missing documentation.- Assist in absolving problem files and documentation associated with these files.- Run reports and scan documents in order to process lien releases.- Manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.- Effective verbal and written communication skills with internal and external customers.- Successful implementation of projects and process improvements according to established timelines and strategic direction of the company.
