Led Anacor R&D team focused on application of boron chemistry platform to discover novel therapeutics for global health. Grew team into one of the worlds most successful biotech R&D team focused on discovering transformational medicines for neglected tropical diseases including tuberculosis, malaria, Chagas disease, sleeping sickness, river blindness/lymphatic filariasis, cryptosporidium, animal African trypanosomiasis and others . The team working with numerous external partners was responsible for the discovery of over 10 drugs focused on parasitic and bacterial diseases. To fund the this R&D, we raised >$80M in non-dilutive funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Wellcome Trust, GSK, Medicines for Malaria Venture, Drugs for Neglected Disease Initiative, Global Alliance for Veterinary Medicine, TB Alliance, NIH, DTRA, iOWH, and Eli Lilly/ELANCO. Global R&D partners included DNDi, UCSF, MMV, Swiss Tropical Institute, University of Georgia, GSK, London School of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene and numerous Universities including Bonn, Vermont, Liverpool, Illinois-Chicago, Heidelberg, Pace and Monash, ELANCO, IDRI.
