I manage Argonne's program for tracking and handling radioactive material where I influence policies and practices affecting labwide operations and research. Here, I interface with a diverse crowd of professionals from front-line workers to researchers to senior managers where I apply my nuclear engineering expertise and leverage every day relationships to create programs that work. In parallel, I also manage Argonne's Accelerator Safety Program, where I work to find the optimal balance between safety, compliance, and operations for research accelerators like the Advanced Photon Source and Argonne's ATLAS.As the nature of our work grows increasingly technical, so it also grows increasingly personal as we each develop more specialized expertise that requires deeper collaborations with our peers. In my work, I focus intensely on team-oriented collaboration, inclusion, and diplomacy to resolve complex technical and regulatory considerations.
