Director Of Administrative Services
Menlo Park, Ca
I managed the human resources function at JobTrain, and oversaw the I.T. and Facilities departments. Some of my responsibilities included onboarding new employees, serving as benefits administrator, helping refine personnel policies, handling workers comp and other insurance issues, and vendor relations. I oversaw a number of improvements to I.T. equipment and security, and to the campus itself.Significantly, I ended up volunteering to handle much more over time to help fill personnel gaps. My responsibilities grew to include volunteer management; assisting with a website overhaul and then performing the ongoing maintenance; helping with branding and the transition to "JobTrain" from “OICW”; overseeing the child development center; helping with the complex accreditation process; and proofreading newsletters and other marketing materials. I worked on fundraising events, assisting with tasks such as space negotiation and setup, film production, graphics, and solving numerous logistical challenges. I also served on the annual golf tournament committee with members of the board and outside partners from companies such as KPMG and Bank of America. While at JobTrain, I helped to overhaul child development center operations and restore the program’s reputation for quality. I also oversaw projects such as the sale of an external preschool, the transition from an offsite restaurant to an onsite commercial kitchen for Culinary Arts training, the negotiation of external leases for construction trades classes, and physical upgrades to meet ADA requirements.I promoted a culture of respect and appreciation for staff at JobTrain, and I’m pleased that the annual turnover rate shrank from 18% to 10% during my tenure.
