Prior to earning my degree, I gained an internship with the case management team at Cocoon House, where I gained a solid understanding of the duties and responsibilities of a case manager. Upon earning my degree I had the opportunity to work as a support staff at Cocoon House, where I continued to gain a strong experience in helping teens who are in need of the necessary guidance, compassion, and life skills that will help them be successful in adult-hood. Also, upon earning my degree, I gained a position with Pioneer Human Services as a Residential Youth Counselor, where I work directly with case management and appointed social workers in helping rehabilitate youth who are struggling with severe psychiatric disorders, as well as juveniles who are registered sex offenders. I sincerely believe working and advocating for youth is a vocation that I would thoroughly enjoy working, as well as a position that I would feel a strong sense for fulfillment. Also, I believe the knowledge I gained from my case management internship, as well as my advocate experience, will strongly aid towards fulfilling the duties of an advocate for youth.
