I was entrusted with spearheading the development of DeLaRue’s future manufacturing capabilities in Malta. My primary mission was to lead a technical team of ten for a year at the Gateshead DeLaRue Authentication Factory. This strategic role involved deep immersion into the manufacturing processes and operational workflows to prepare for the business’s relocation to Malta.Key Responsibilities:•Operational and Financial Oversight: Mapped the entire value stream, identified key improvements, and gained a thorough understanding of the operational and financial aspects of the business.•Strategic Team Management: Managed and extracted crucial operational knowledge from the team at Gateshead, despite the challenging dynamics of decommissioning the business unit.•Project Management: Supported the installation and commissioning of relocated and new manufacturing processes and equipment in Malta.•Cost Management: Played a pivotal role in the business relocation that was part of a multi-million investment, successfully reducing the cost of manufacturing. Achievements:•New Facility Launch: Formed part of a team that successfully launched a new Product Authentication facility in Malta on April 24, 2018, marking a significant milestone in DeLaRue’s expansion and operational capabilities.•Leadership Growth: Developed significantly both as a leader and an individual, facing the complex challenge of acquiring and transferring essential knowledge from a site that was scaling down to a new state-of-the-art facility. This role not only enhanced my capabilities in managing large-scale manufacturing operations but also deepened my expertise in strategic project execution.

As Operational Excellence Support Manager, I participated in spearheading the company's transformative journey towards achieving and sustaining Operational Excellence. My primary responsibilities involved mentoring and coaching the workforce, integrating Operational Excellence into daily operations, and supporting seamless process enhancements. Collaborating closely with the Process Manager, I played a pivotal role in leading project management initiatives that significantly elevated our manufacturing processes. Led a team that included line technicians, a Production Leader, and 45 operators across multiple production cells. My key responsibilities and achievements included:•Team Leadership: Managed all electrical and mechanical line technicians on the assembly floors, focusing on reducing machine downtime and increasing machine availability (OEE) for production.•Maintenance and Spare Parts Management: Oversaw all weekly and monthly maintenance activities (as part of a TPM program) and managed spare parts to ensure smooth operations.•Cost Management: Monitored and managed the Cost of Poor Availability for machines, reviewed TPM performances, and developed improvement plans to enhance OEE for the worst-performing equipment.•Lean Manufacturing: Ensured lean manufacturing processes were adhered to across all ignition cells, meeting the stringent quality standards required by automotive customers.•Efficiency Improvement: Reduced labor costs and maximized the efficiency of the available workforce, ensuring timely and quality delivery of orders across all manufacturing cells.•Kaizen Lean Event: Participated in a Kaizen Lean Event in Mexico, where I received advanced training on Lean tools such as Value Stream Mapping and VA-VE (Value Added – Value Engineering). The training focused on conducting a Kaizen Event to reduce and eliminate waste across manufacturing processes.

My key responsibilities and achievements included:•Process Improvement: Applied various lean and quality control tools to enhance production processes. Utilized systematic problem-solving tools to drive continuous improvement within production cells.•Production Planning: Managed production planning to meet customer shipment schedules while ensuring the high-quality standards required in the automotive industry.•Operational Efficiency: Focused on maximizing availability and monitoring performance to achieve and exceed an Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) of 85% across all cells. •Lean Manufacturing: Implemented foundational lean manufacturing practices, including 5S, yield monitoring, quality control, material and inventory management, and Heijunka for leveled production. Documented and created standard work procedures, conducted Value Stream exercises, and fostered people development.

Additionally, provided comprehensive production support to ensure seamless operations.

Key achievements and responsibilities included:•Product Installation and Launch: Led the installation of new products in the production environment, starting in engineering mode and transitioning to full production after meeting all necessary criteria. This involved conducting engineering trials, verification, characterisation studies, results analysis, and reporting to enhance throughput, yield, and quality.•Collaboration: Worked closely with local teams and an engineering group based in ST Grenoble, France, to ensure seamless product launches.•Training and Support: Trained production team members on new products, providing ongoing technical support to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.•Product Security Engineering: Managed the system infrastructure for testing customer-specific products, ensuring the confidentiality of sensitive data.
