In this senior management role, I am responsible for two to three in-house counsel, one administrative professional, and the work of multiple external counsel of varying specialties. Functions under my leadership perimeter include EHS, Product Stewardship, regional insurance management, government relations, Labor & Employment, as well as multiple commercial segments and purchasing categories. I currently provide personal commercial legal support to our Filtration & Life Sciences business segment, and have previously supported our Paper & Board and Refractories segments. This includes providing commercial legal advice and training as well as drafting and negotiating commercial agreements such as supply, agency, distribution, and confidentiality agreements. As part of the Legal Department senior management team, I contribute to the overall leadership of the department. I support strategic priorities including recruiting, development, and retention, budgeting, litigation reporting, audit response, and executive presentations.

In this management role, I continued to have responsibility for all of Imerys’ growing litigation needs in the United States and Canada. I hired another experienced litigator to fortify my in-house team. I also began to manage our departmental administrative professional and assumed a more visible leadership role within the department and the Imerys organization.During this role I gained valuable experience working with internal and external stakeholders to take a portion of the Imerys North American business first into Chapter 11 restructuring and then ultimately into an asset divestiture.

In this individual contributor role, I managed litigation for Imerys across the United States and Canada. This included handling matters in-house as well as extensive management of external counsel for larger and more complex matters. Matters ranged from commercial and employment disputes to large scale product liability and tort litigation across the region. In addition, I provided advice and support regarding regulatory compliance and developments affecting our industry, with particular focus on environmental, health, and safety (EHS) and Product Stewardship matters. I led Imerys activities including interfacing with our trade association as well as interfacing with agencies and other companies in our industry.
