Most of the 6 million small-scale cocoa producers worldwide are marginalized, earning insufficient compensation to sustain a dignified livelihood from their agricultural activities. In 2015, alongside 36 cocoa-producing families from the Alto Huayabamba valley, we decided to offer a positive alternative to a destructive industry. Together, we founded Choba Choba, the first Swiss chocolate brand where cocoa producers are co-owners, main shareholders and sitting at the board of directors of our private company. We share the same vision. We work hand in hand and make decisions together. An innovative and awarded model (Ashoka-UBS Social Innovator 2016, SEIF Awards For Social Entrepreneurship 2016, Viva Premios Schmidheiny 2018, Prix Suisse de l’Ethique 2021) delivering real economic, social, and environmental impact on the ground.Choba Choba is a farmer-owned chocolate brand and the prototype of an impact driven vertically integrated value chain. We deliver a one-of-a kind chocolate experience from our farms directly to the consumers. Together, farmers and consumers, we create a global community of chocolate lovers and changemakers. Our ecosystem consists in a hybrid structure :1. CoopACCC – Cooperativa Agraria Cacaotera Choba Choba (Peru): Farmer cooperative. Organization in charge of the cacao production and implementation of our impact projects.2. Choba Choba AG (Switzerland) : Private company co-owned by cacao farmers in the Peruvian Amazon. It is the business arm of our venture, in charge of marketing and distributing super premium chocolate products.3. Choba Choba Foundation (Switzerland) : non-profit organization. The mission of the Choba Choba Foundation is to co-create hands-on solutions for small scale cocoa farmers in the Peruvian Amazon to thrive as professional entrepreneurs and preserve their natural ecosystems.
