I have always wanted to experience the thrill of working in pre-hospital care and I decided the best way to immerse myself would be to train as a paramedic after undergrad. I interned as a paramedic in the busy 911 system of Ventura county. I got to hone in my assessments, develop hands on skills (starting IVs, interpreting ECGs, administering medications, and using advanced airways), and develop my treatment plan strategies under the watchful eye of my preceptor. I walked away from this experience more confident in myself and inspired to further my education in the life sciences.

Co-developed a multimodal microscope capable of taking multiple types of images using a novel ePaper technique. I had experience with Java in high school developing games with my buddies. I was able to learn python fairly easily, due to my exposure to Java, and used it to develop the code necessary to run the different imaging programs. We were able to obtain dark-field, light-field, phase contrast, and 3D tomographic images from the set up in both coherent and incoherent light sources.
