About Eric Gjerde, Ed.D

I am currently employed by the City of Cedar Rapids. I started this position in May, 2022. I am excited to start a new chapter in my professional life and particularly excited to work for the city my family and I have called home for the last decade. I had been been a public school teacher in Iowa for the past 21 years with the previous 14 in Cedar Rapids. I have MA Degrees in Social Studies Education and Educational Administration, an endorsement in Special Education and my Doctorate in Educational Policy and Leadership. I wrote my dissertation on Public Sector Collective Bargaining and Public Schools. I was fortunate to be elected by my constituents of House District 67 to represent them in the Iowa House of Representatives. I started my term January 10th, 2021 and am running for re-election in the newly redistricted House District 74. I look forward to continuing to represent Cedar Rapids and Marion.
