As the intern for the Grid Analytics department, I was tasked with my own long term project to complete over the course of the summer. This project was an analysis of the company's current wooden distribution pole inspection process. The goal of the project was to predict which poles would be at a higher risk of needing replacement upon inspection, such that inspection scheduling could be geared towards the higher risk poles. I saw the project from start to finish, including data collection, merging, and cleaning from multiple databases, creating a logistic regression model appropriate to the data, and presenting my results to several different groups of interest.

As the Data Science Intern, I worked on a few long-term projects over the summer. One project involved an analysis of the variance of mortgager credit scores by repository and geographic location, in which I combined statistical and clustering techniques to identify deviations from the norm and helped optimize repository calling practices. I also utilized text classification techniques to analyze internal employee focus group data to supply HR with metrics on overall employee input on company trends. Finally, throughout the summer I presented useful data analysis and machine learning tools to the analytics team.

My primary duty as counselor at a children's film camp (ages 8-17), was to guide small groups in the film making process, from the creative process of coming up with story ideas to the filming and editing of those ideas. The final product of each group is a short film. I also led camp-wide instruction on some basic aspects of filmmaking and storytelling.

I also ran analyses to optimize future value income from potential restructuring of costs. As a summer intern at this property management company, I was responsible for a number of duties. I compared costs of applying various apartment amenities to find what amenities would be most financial viable. I utilized Excel formulas to provide tenant information for data system purposes. This included a fair amount of data entry. Finally, I gained information about other apartment markets through phone surveys.
