As a partner at Mother Co. I lead the design and development of all physical goods with an emphasis on apparel and bags. Being a creative leader of the company a wide range of responsibilities was always on my plate, which included:- Designing, developing, prototyping, and patterning all physical goods - Ranging from bags and apparel, small goods, furniture, pop-up shops and retail displays, and studio renovations- Product testing - Designing and performing quality testing for all of our physical goods including abrasion resistance, tensile strength, seam strength, water resistance, and extreme environment testing- Product and lifestyle photography and videography - This included campaign ideation and design, creative direction, technical direction, set design, lighting, and editing- Brand marketing - Assisted with the creative direction and campaign design of online, social, out-of-home, and traditional marketing- Retail and pop-up direction - This included the creative direction of our retail strategy and event design, pop-up/display design and construction, and all supporting transportation logistics- HR and management - Hiring, managing and directing a team that averaged 5-10 full time staff, along with various part time, contract, intern, student and casual employees- Strategic sourcing - Setting up and maintaining CRA import/export status, and sourcing a wide range of raw materials from around the world, including fabric, leather, notions, machinery, metal, wood, etc.- Custom hardware design and development - A project where I designed and developed custom aluminum bag hardware using CAD software, and coordinating production, finishing, and testing- Design and development of a large scale CNC cutter - coordinated IRAP R&D funding from the government of Canada to build a 5’x8’ CNC machine with drafting, cutting, and milling capabilities

As the founder and owner of Forge Apparel I had the responsibility of growing a small apparel company from scratch to a thriving start up brand. After growing Forge Apparel for several years and hiring and managing a full-time team, I merged Forge Apparel with Mother Co. in 2014. In addition to many of the responsibilities listed above I was also responsible for the following:Brand design - Designing all brand assets including logos, web/e-commerce design, signage, marketing, social media, catalogs, look-books, business cards, hang tags, packaging, etc.Accounting and bookkeeping - Maintaining corporate financial statements, managerial accounting, bookkeeping, corporate provincial and federal tax filings, GST and HST filingLegal maintenance - Filing for incorporation, setting up a share structure, coordinating funding, filing annual returns, following import/export and payroll regulations
