Opened in 2009, Xavier University of Louisiana reinforced its commitment to its initiatives focusing on minority health disparities and diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure. The goal of the center, located next to the Wal-Mart store at 5110 Jefferson Hwy. in Harahan, is to improve the health of the community by providing education, medication therapy management and screening services to those with Diabetes-related health care needs in the Greater New Orleans area.

Our work with the SLVHCS - a significant focus of Project Legacy - will assist with the design and implementation of a new healthcare delivery system that will replace the current VA Health Care System that was damaged by flooding from Hurricane Katrina. Work@Health® Train-the-Trainer (certified) training will provide employers and other participants with the knowledge and tools to train employers how to promote good health in their work places. Participants will be able to use the information to prevent or reduce chronic illness and disability, and improve productivity and employer competitiveness of employers participating in this training program.
