I started as a process chemist with the small production team working both in production and at lab bench scale to change our production methods to both scale up and improve the purity of our isolates and final formulations. We focused on natural products used by our clients as ingredients for medicinal and nutraceutical applications. Through collaboration.

During my spring semester of my junior year and both semesters of my senior year I worked in the research laboratory of a professor in the chemistry department assisting in the synthesis of a multifunctional aliphatic polyester dendrimer as a novel boron neutron capture therapy drug.

This was a two and a half month summer abroad program. I worked with a Brazilian professor and one of his PhD student's identifying the medicinal compounds in Cissampelos sympodialis. Using a multidisciplinary approach the aqueous extract of the plant was separated by polarity using solid phase extraction and the different fractions were used at varying.

During my sophomore year at SUNY-ESF I worked in a research laboratory of a professor in the chemistry department assisting in the determination of the fatty acid and sterol content of various coral samples. This was an unpaid position. My main duty was preforming a series of extractions, acid and base reactions, and protecting group addition/removal.
