Dongducheon, Gyeonggi, South Korea
I entered the Republic of Korea Army in December of 2021. I attended six-weeks of ROK Army Basic Training at Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province and three-weeks of KATUSA Training Academy at Camp Humphreys. Upon graduation, I was assigned to the 55th Military Police Company in Dongducheon, South Korea. While serving as a Military Policeman, I participated in numerous field trainings with my platoon, including the Arctic Dominance Exercise organized by the 94th Military Police Battalion. I made a significant contribution to these trainings, and my team leaders, squad leaders, and platoon leaders recognized my:Responsibility: As the only KATUSA gunner for the M2 machine gun in the 55th Military Police Company, I took on critical tasks and ensured effective operation during exercises.Communication Skills: During trainings with the Korean Special Forces and SWOP, which took place in Korea, my knowledge of local traffic signs and terrain was advantageous. Being familiar with the environment, I served as a translator between my team (consisting of U.S. soldiers) and the Korean Special Forces. I effectively expressed ideas in English and, when necessary, in Korean, ensuring clear understanding and coordination.Quick Comprehension of Army Trainings: I demonstrated a rapid understanding of operational areas and training exercises, which allowed me to contribute effectively and support my team in adapting to various scenarios more quickly than other KATUSAs.In recognition of my achievements, I was awarded the 55th Military Police Company Coin.
