The system is designed to transition the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) to a paperless-based system. It processes claims end-to-end which includes functionality for claim establishment, development, ratings, awards, and appeals processes along with security features protecting veterans’ personal information.- Worked remotely coding new features and enhancing existing application components using Angular JS - 1.5/1.6 for the frontend and Java JDK 1.8 backend. Also, researched and resolved frontend & backend app defects.- Created initial UI tests using Node.js, Karma, and Jasmine testing strategy.- Created system design documentation and performed system functionality analysis.- Traveled to Charleston, S.C., August 2017 and supported On-Site User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with VA staff.

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) – Contractor, Tech Development Team Lead – June 2014 to December 2016- Farm Records Technical Development Team Lead managing and mentoring 4 to 6 developers. During 2014 Farm Bill project work, I lead 2 development teams consisting of about 12 staff with half located in Kansas City and the other team working remotely in Washington, D.C. Led the Farm Records development team through the implementation of the new Field Level farm structure initiative.- Responsible for leading development, testing, delivery, and support of 4 production applications consisting of:• A front end JSP UI Web Application for creating and managing farms, tracts, and fields data• A Java 1.5/1.6 back end replication service to validate and update farms• A shared service other applications could use to access farm records data in a controlled setting• A listener designed to listen for farm changes from other data sources as well as broadcast those changes out to other downstream systems to keep all USDA Farm applications in sync.- Performed code reviews, developed and executed JUnits, ran SOAP UI tests, and logging. United Services Automobile Association (USAA) – Contractor, Senior Software Developer- Java/J2EE Senior Software Developer assigned to the Enterprise Business Services.- Worked on a new 2-year, $7 million-dollar Message Center Project. I was responsible for design and implementation of the new insert & update web service operations. The overall system was designed to capture customer (member) personal notification preferences allowing the member to assign notification “channels” depending on their preferred severity level (urgent, medium, low). The web service would receive these notification preferences and write them to a DB2 database, then respond a status back to the user.- For the web service, I completed WSDL updates, Http Router operation, field validation logic of request XML objects, decision functionality, client classes, mapper classes, EJBs version 3.0, request object vs. database records verification logic, JPA entity manager persist and merge logic, proprietary exception handling processes, and logging. Created and executed Soap UI insert and update tests through Web Service functionality.- Tracked Epics, Stories (regular and Spike), and tasks using IBM RTC and Jazz software. Presented and participated in team code review sessions.

Senior Software Developer- Developer on 5 person team who designed and engineered a new Medical Drug Management Service (MDMS). The application provides a Health Plan Organization with the ability to adjudicate claims against the Plans' individualized sets of rules helping eliminate fraud, waste and abuse of medical & prescription drug claims.- This application was estimated to generate close to $7 million dollars in revenue during its first year and over $30 million dollars in its first 3 years of operation. Increased program performance by reducing processing of 1.2 million claims from 4 hours to 45 minutes.- Designed and developed backend SQL Server 2005 databases and core Java batch program. Built Windows batch scripts to extract and load SQL server data files, automate running of program JAR files to execute data loads from 3rd party FTP site, and extract DB2 warehouse data for program support tables. - Coded enhancements and bug fixes to GUI front end JSP application.
