I have developed a clearing service for AU/UK businesses called ActiveClearing (https://activeclearing.net). Its function is to use the connections that businesses already have with suppliers/customers to reduce the cash necessary to operate by transforming 'gross' payments to 'net'. This is no different than the clearinghouses banks have been using since the 1700s to optimise their inter-bank transfer payments, and could not possibly operate without it. I've just brought it to ordinary businesses. To this day, I cannot understand why this service has not been developed yet as the technology to provide such a service is available and possible. But this paradox is my opportunity. ActiveClearing can access Xero/MYOB/etc client supplier/customer data via APIs, a little math is used to identify closed groups (A -> B -> C -> A, etc), and then it is simple to calculate the 'net' payments within those groups. But almost more importantly, as you can imagine, the viral nature of clearing means that the more participants, the more benefits everyone has. Once a somewhat critical mass has been reached, there will not be a finance manager in the country who will not want to join the ActiveClearing network to reduce required cash-on-hand. An infrastructure underlying B2B payments. The problem as I'm sure you surmise, is that it is a paradigm shift in thinking. It is a new business category unto itself. I call it "Connected Payments". And people are fearful of such change. Howard Aiken said it best: "Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats". And ramming is what I have been trying to do.I knew once I started this journey, I would need champions. People who understand the public good which will result from such a service, and have the necessary 'pull' to convince others. People who get it. And by the word 'get' I mean that you will easily understand the concept as many do, but also understand the enormity of the public good resulting from this concept as few do.
