I serve as the Associate Vice President for the University of Chicago's Department of Safety and Security which encompasses numerous operational units that provide public safety services to the University of Chicago, the University of Chicago Medicine, the University's elementary and secondary educational institutions, its global campuses and to the extended communities surrounding the University of Chicago in the south side of the city. In this capacity, I lead several operational units that include a full-service CALEA and IACLEA accredited law enforcement agency with responsibilities for an extended patrol jurisdiction, a physical security division that manages physical security technology and a robust physical security program including K-12 security teams, an emergency management and business continuity division, an environmental health & safety division, and transportation and parking unit. In this role, I manage and oversee 400+ full-time, part-time, and contracted employees with a multi-million dollar annual budget. As the Associate Vice President, I serve as the institution's Chief Law Enforcement and Security Officer and manage the institution's emergency response protocols.

I serve as a Senior Associate for Margolis Healy, a consulting firm specializing in public safety consulting services for various industries including K-12, higher education, corporate, and health care. In this capacity, I have served as a project team member for numerous consulting agreements and have specialized in projects related to physical security assessments, public safety program assessments, Clery program compliance audits, and major incident specific reviews.

As the Assistant Vice President and Chief of Police, I led a CALEA accredited law enforcement and public safety agency which served a population of 40,000+ students, faculty and staff. In this role, I led a staff of over 130 personnel (57 of whom were sworn police officers) whose responsibilities include police operations, access control, physical and technological security, emergency management and a robust student police cadet program. Operating with a $7.5 million-dollar budget, the GMU Department of Police and Public Safety provided professional and dedicated law enforcement and security services to the largest public institution of higher education in Virginia which included several campuses in surrounding counties, and the Patriot Center (10,000 seat arena) which hosted Division I athletic events as well as high-profile entertainment and political events. In this capacity, I served as the institution's Chief law enforcement and security officer and co-chaired the institution's Behavioral Threat Assessment Team.

During my time as a Deputy Chief of Police at the University of Chicago, a core operational unit within the Department of Safety and Security, I served as both the Deputy Chief of Police for the Field Services Bureau and the Deputy Chief of Police for the Support Services Bureau. Under my leadership, the Field Services Bureau included the two primary divisions: Field Operations (including the UCPD’s extended patrol area) as well as Special Operations which included Community Relations Unit, Pro-Active Crime Team, and Criminal Investigations Unit. The Support Services Bureau included three main divisions with functions including but not limited to: department training and professional development, internal affairs, special event planning and staffing, background investigations, and implementation and management of the CALEA Accreditation Process.

From May 2008 until May 2010, I served as a Lieutenant with the Vanderbilt University Police Department. During my time as a Lieutenant, I was assigned to various units and had responsibility for the leading the department's training division, its community relations division, and was assigned to the department's campus precinct as a precinct Lieutenant.

My last position with the University of Arkansas Police Department was as a Police Sergeant. I started my civilian law enforcement career with the University of Arkansas in April 2008 beginning as a communications dispatcher. I was then hired in August of 2000 as police officer and in my eight years with the department, I spent time as a police officer, criminal investigations detective, community relations officer, and then ultimately a Sergeant assigned to the patrol division.

Last position was as a Master-At-Arms (Military Police) Petty Officer 2nd Class assigned to the North Little Rock Naval Reserve Station. From July 2005 until June 2006, I was deployed with a detachment of military police officers to the Middle East in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. I served as the one of the unit's training coordinator and small arms instructors.

Last rank was as a Sergeant with the Arkansas Army National Guard, 212th Signal Battalion. In this capacity, I was a non-commissioned officer supervising a combat communication signal team. From June 2003 until March 2004, I was deployed in support of security operations.
