About Eric Hoffman
At the age of three, I knew I was an artist. I didn't know what an artist was, but it was an instinctual feeling I had. Like every youngster, I colored, I constructed cars, boats and forts out of wood, I designed buildings, I exercised my imagination. At age thirteen, my instincts directed me to travel and study art in Europe. My parents were a little surprised by my goals and ambitions at that age. From then on I chose to follow a creative path. I became an art major in high school and continued in college. I was fortune enough to find the right educators who shared my vision and gave me the support and encouragement I needed to accomplish my goals. I had my first museum exhibition at age 21 and I was a junior in college.I loved being in school, I loved being exposed to new things and new people and different points of view. I worked for the local art museum which gave me experience and a insider's view of the art world and it's workings. Art gave me a passport to cross cultural, economic and historic borders and gave me a world view. I love making art, I love looking at art and I love teaching art-this is very fulfilling. As I look back, what really made the difference was those key teachers and friends who gave me the encouragement and confidence to go forward and to believe in myself. This is a gift and the gift I give to my students.

Former Chairman of the Art Department at The Harker School since 1998; taught at the Tamagawa School in Tokyo, Japan, as part of the Harker/Tamagawa Teacher exchange program. Prior to this, art instructor at the San Jose Museum of Art School, the Community School for Music and Art in Mountain View, and The San Jose Art School (A private Korean high school).Most recently, created a new permanent Harker School art exhibit featuring student's work at the Lucille Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford University.A recognized expressionist painter listed in Who's Who in American Art. Paintings are in corporate and private collections in the United States, Europe, and Japan. Collectors include: the Albright-Knox Museum in New York, American Express, Canon, E. F. Hutton, Hilton Hotels, Raychem Corp., Kintetsu International Express, the City of Dublin (Ireland), the San Jose Museum of Art, Monterey Peninsula Museum, and the Silicon Valley Capitol Club. He has been featured in publications: Architectural Digest, Arts Magazine, Catalog for the EF Hutton Collection. After graduating with an MA and MFA in art from San Jose State University, exhibited paintings in New York, Paris, Grenoble, Nice. London, Athens, Rome, Los Angles, Dallas, San Francisco.
