I serve as the City of Bloomington’s Community Outreach and Engagement Division Manager, joining in June 2023. In this role, I supports the Division’s focus on community outreach and partnership-building, public participation support for City departments, and capacity development for aspiring community leader, and the development of our Division's strategic plan. My team's training in facilitation and public participation serves our mission to grow trust, civic engagement, and in inclusive decision-making across the community and City organization.

My work focuses on coordinating the implementation of Hennepin County’s ambitious climate action plan, pursuing net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, community resilience to our growing climate hazards, and equitable engagement across all efforts. Internally, I lead our department’s federal funding strategy and our community engagement plan and implementation; supervise our Community Liaisons and lead hiring of our data analyst and project manager; and support the tracking and reporting of our Foundational Strategy KPIs. Externally, I’m a project manager for our urban agriculture initiatives and community energy planning. Core to these broad efforts is fostering a strong department culture of innovation, collaboration, staff empowerment, and continuous growth and dialogue on how our work systematically addresses equity and empowers under-served residents in pursuit of our unique and shared community aspirations.

I support the mission of our City Council and City Manager by planning and administering our community and city-operational sustainability programs, guided by the our community climate action plan and municipal sustainability plan. I work across departments and community stakeholders to build commitment, strategies, and ongoing engagement toward ambitious sustainability targets--45% reduction in carbon by 2030, resilience to our increasingly extreme weather, and access to basic needs including clean air and water, parks, healthy food, and green jobs. Utilizing our City's innovation process, I serve on the leadership team to ensure projects we undertake are collaborative, transparent, and performance-focused. Serving the national association of sustainability coordinators, called the the Urban Sustainability Director's Network, I co-chair our regional networks committee and collaborate with sustainability professionals to ensure collaboration, education, and best practices are integrated into cities and counties across the country.

Responsible for building a culture of sustainability across the University of Iowa community. This responsibility includes students, faculty, and staff in all University units--Academics, Hospitals, Athletics, and Student Living. Serve as Division representative for UI's fundraising campaign. Lead the University's goal to achieve 60% waste diversion by 2020, working across the institution to track progress, provide continuous education, and implement best practices. Co-created College and University Recycling Coalition's first Zero Waste Database. Earned the 2015 Best Educational Program from Iowa Recycling Association for RecycleMania campaign.
