During my 40 years of practice, my clients have ranged from start-up companies to multi-billion dollar public companies listed on the NYSE and NASDAQ. My clients frequently do not have a need for a full-time in-house counsel, and they often view me and my firm as their “outside” general counsel. In that role, I develop a personal relationship with my clients and get to know and understand them, their business, and their legal needs so I can tailor my services to their particular requirements.My firm, McLaughlin & Stern LLP, has the capability to assist both companies and individuals in other areas of the law, including litigation, taxation, real estate, intellectual property, estate planning and administration, and domestic relations.Unlike senior attorneys in many other firms, I generally handle my clients’ legal matters directly rather than delegate them to junior attorneys with less experience. This has proven to be both efficient and cost-effective. My colleagues at McLaughlin & Stern who assist me with client matters in other fields of law are also senior attorneys who have previously had experience at major law firms and also generally work directly with our clients. As a result, we believe that we provide high quality legal services and advice comparable to that of much larger firms, but at a cost that is in line with our clients’ budgets.
