Core Responsibilities• Maintain security and privacy of information systems, communication lines, and equipment.• Align technology with business needs. Work cooperatively with departments to determine their technology needs. Provide recommendations and manage implementation processes.• Configure, administer, and support all aspects of network systems for the City of Fitchburg and MPSIS networks.• Oversee the strategy, design, implementation, operation, and retirement of network technology and systems.• Ensure the continual functioning of mission critical operations of the Police Department Dispatch Center.• Develop and review all back-up and disaster recovery procedures and plans.• Function as City network administrator. Core Responsibilities• Purchase, install, configure, troubleshoot, and repair equipment required to support IT systems and network.• Manage third party relationships including structured wiring, and network hardware and software installations and configurations.• Work with issue tracking software to ensure highest level of customer support to end users.• Maintain user accounts and network security on all IT resources.• Assist and educate end-users in proper use of IT resources.• Participate in IT strategic planning.Selected Accomplishments• Participated in the initial implementation of VMware infrastructure and ongoing maintenance.• Managed major project to reorganize the data center and implement layer 3 core switch stack.• Converted main campus from single 16 bit subnet to multiple 24 bit subnets using layer 3 switching to improve network performance and organization.• Participated in deployment of Cisco WAAS to improve WAN performance at all branch campuses. Currently manage any changes to the WAAS infrastructure including hardware additions and software version upgrades.• Manage deployments, configurations and patching on all Cisco routers, switches, wireless access points, etc and maintain centralized automated nightly backup of all configurations.• Participant in multiple building remodel projects requiring structured wiring, network configuration design, and purchasing & installing end-user IT infrastructure.• Participated in Cisco VoIP phone system rollouts at multiple Zimbrick locations.• Designed standardized network diagrams encompassing main headquarters and branch locations.• Managed Wide Area Network redesign providing more bandwidth and a more flexible design connecting all branch campuses.
