As an Associate Director of Technology, I contribute to the overall technology leadership, strategy, and direction of Nerdery - marrying deep technical expertise, knowledge of industry trends, and client needs to identify new capabilities for a subsection of technology (Front-End) as well as ensure existing capabilities remain healthy and our technology offerings high quality. I act as a leader, mentor, guide, and coach to the entirety of the Front-End domain, as well as my peers, within the technology organization. This includes helping to identify, grow, and train the next set of Nerdery technology leaders. I also play a key role in internal programs where technology partners across the organization - including providing a technology perspective to the recruiting, marketing, capacity management, business development, and delivery organizations.Along with internal responsibilities, I maintain my own technical acumen and act as a deep consultative technical partner to clients - providing application architecture and some solutions architecture with a focus on web applications and the supporting systems that drive them. This does occasionally include development of applications using a mixture of cloud and Front-End technologies.

As front-end domain lead, I provide the strategic direction for the front-end domain of Nerdery’s engineering organization (30+ engineers). I use expert level skills with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript to craft holistic front-end experiences from data modeling and API contract design all the way to a design accurate, responsive, inclusive UI with delightful interactions. I architect front-end solutions to complex UI problems that must be highly performant, automatically and independently deployable, fully tested, and maintainable. These problems may be high-traffic content-driven websites or data-driven web applications with specific scalability and security needs. Over the past 4 years I have become a subject matter expert with React and Redux. I have experience architecting elegant solutions for high-complexity applications, as well as with the tooling ecosystem (Webpack/Babel) and testing (Jest) of such applications.I also serve as an overall technical team lead for large, complex client engagements. As a Senior Software Engineer, my primary duties included applying advanced HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills to architect and build modular, maintainable, scalable, semantic, and inclusive front-end web solutions using a modern front-end tool stack including tools like Grunt, Gulp, Bower, NPM, handlebars, SASS, LESS, Require.js, jQuery, React, and Browserify. I created solutions for both marketing websites as well as data-driven applications powered by RESTful APIs. I also worked with unit testing technologies including Jasmine and Karma. Along with coding work, another primary responsibility was leading development teams for client projects. This included acting as the client-facing subject matter expert, managing tasks and mentoring a small team of engineers, making architecture decisions, owning and maintaining code quality for the project, and managing version control processes. At this time I became a subject matter expert in GitFlow. I also worked closely with project managers to provide quality customer service to clients throughout the development process. I also worked closely with back-end development and designers to build teams which worked as a unit and educated them on front-end platform conventions to create a better product.In addition to work on projects, I also assisted heavily in the sales process, providing potential solutions to client issues and estimating those solutions. I also actively contributed to several front-end discipline projects.

As a software engineer, I was primarily responsible for producing maintainable, semantic front-end web solutions for projects using a modern front-end development stack including CSS 3 (SASS), HTML 5, Handlebars, SVG, and JavaScript (JQuery). I implemented responsive designs which worked seamlessly across modern, mobile, and legacy browsers and advised project managers, clients, lead developers, and designers with platform best practices to ensure a quality implementation which matched provided designs with a high degree of accuracy. JavaScript solutions focused on individual UI elements of websites (modals, carousels, etc). I also provided estimates for individual elements to lead developers and assisted back-end developers with the integration of static front-end assets into their views. Along with day-to-day development work, I also advised the sales team with estimates and consultation, shared common solutions and patterns with other members of the front-end discipline, and in general acted as a resource for front-end knowledge to others.

I run the gamut - yes, pun intended - when it comes to design. Branding, Layout, Typography, Advertising, Web/Interactive.

My duties at Weatherford include the design, construction and installation of all types of signs - this includes all design aspects such as layout, conforming to branding standards, logo design, and creative concepts. The construction aspect includes the cutting and laying vinyl, laying vinyl prints and applying the designs that I have created.

As principle designer for the organization, I re-branded both the organization itself as well as many of it's programs and events. Besides the task of creating a brand, I also had to design flyers, posters, programs and any other media that the organization might need on a day-to-day basis.

In charge of the development of flyers, brochures, t-shirts and other printed and web material for the Marketing Department of Recreational Sports and Services for the Student Recreation Center of Southern Illinois university. Tasks range from full design of documents to the improvment of previous work. This is a student work position.
