Started with this initially small animation studio as a compositor and quickly became the director of technology, growing along with the studio until we became one of the largest independent animation studios in the country.I supervised and troubleshot the entire digital operations for a team as large as 80 people, providing technical support and leadership. Extensive range of experience in all aspects of animation production, from storyboard and design to animation and rendering and on through to editing and delivery, in all forms of animation from traditional hand-drawn to Flash animation and 3D CGI.Responsible for setting up and maintaining all workstations, equipment and post production services, including DigiBeta recorders and AVID systems. Over the years, I supported Silicon Graphics Unix boxes, Linux servers, Macintosh art stations, and numerous configurations of PC systems, running every version of Windows from NT to Server 2000 and 7. Setup and maintained all aspects of company network infrastructure, including wiring, Sonicwall firewall, VPN, FTP servers, HP ProCurve switches, and 30 TB server disk array. Scheduled and maintained all data backup systems, including backup-to-disc and archiving to tape. Performed digital compositing, camera work, and special effects on numerous TV shows and features, incorporating traditional hand-drawn, 2D vector, and CGI animation with background graphics, as well as blue-screen matte work on live action, and program-generated effects. Designed FX look and methodology, and directed overseas animation companies in the implementation. Coordinated with overseas companies to ensure consistent technical specifications and personally executed retakes as necessary to ensure tight deadlines were met. Created or oversaw all DVD and BluRay (including 3d) production, from animated menu creation to managing all video and audio encoding through to final mastering.

Installed and supported PEGS 2D digital animation software for the Paris-based company.Provided training for new clients in America on all aspects of the software.Conducted demos for prospective buyers and served as the representative for all existing clients such as Disney and DIC, providing technical support and customized systems.

Worked with Cambridge Animation’s Animo system, overseeing the scanning and painting of hand-drawn animation and backgrounds, then composited all the elements together. Managed a team of 10 compositors and painters, provided training and kept everyone on schedule. Designed all digital effects and directed the team to follow the designs and stay consistent.
