Under the guidance of an associate professor, conducted independent research into novel approaches for acoustically isolating portions of a room without impeding foot traffic or sight lines. Research was conducted through computer modelling using the SoundPLAN Noise Modelling software to run iterative simulations. Analysis of the simulation results was then compiled and presented at the 2019 Symposium of University Research & Creative Expression before an audience with varying levels of scientific literacy.

At the request of a local business owner, the CWU Physics department was contracted to perform an acoustic analysis of a historic ballroom to assess options for renovations. As part of a team of student researchers, I conducted on-site data collection of the existing conditions, which was then used to model the characteristics of the room as it existed. From this model we then analyzed the impact of renovation options such as the addition of carpeting or sound damping panels.

For the completion of my Eagle Scout Project, I conducted volunteer work to add new directional signage to a local park to improve visitor navigation of the trail. During the course of this project I: drafted designs for the new signs, organized and conducted fundraisers to gather money and materials, and led work crews of between three and fifteen volunteers to manufacture and install the signage.
