When I was in college and shopping at a music store with my dad in San Jose California, my dad said "that's where you should be, behind the counter taking my money. " I think that was his way of saying get a real job. Three years later I would start my career in retail at Alamo Music Center in San Antonio Texas after graduating from Southwest Guitar Conservatory. I needed a job! After three months of working at Alamo I realize this could be a career path for me. I stayed with Alamo for seven years and then put my energy towards becoming a sales rep for a guitar manufacturer. I was fortunate enough to land a DSM position with Kaman Music Corp. whose major brands included Ovation, Takamine, Hamer, LP and Toca Percussion, Gibraltar, Sabian, Trace Elliot, Genz Benz... to name a few as well as being the largest accessory supplier in the industry. During my 17-year tenure with Kaman Music I won awards for top overall sales as well as individual awards for Ovation, Takamine, Hamer, Gibraltar, Trace Elliott and accessories. In 2007 an opportunity became available to work for Fender Music Instruments. I threw my name in the hat, long story short I got the gig. Over the years with Fender I have been recognized for multiple sales achievements and received several awards. With both companies I've been involved in product development, marketing initiatives, sales and product training.The journey continues.
