 Acted as supervisor during the absence of the patrol sergeant or corporal and assisted them with timesheets and other official paperwork. Mentored new officers on properly completing agency paperwork and handling challenging situations. Also familiarized them with their assigned areas of patrol and the citizens in the area. Due to seniority and familiarity of the area, was regularly assigned to the entire district.

Community Oriented Policing Unit

 Assignments included 13 neighborhoods and the town of Indian Head. Maintained regular contact with state and local government officials, local fire departments, federal law enforcement agencies and other public safety officials. Attended monthly town and community action meetings, neighborhood association/crime watch, and agency community relations programs. Conducted home/ business security surveys to educate owners in residential/business safety and crime prevention techniques. Gave talks and presentations to organizations, schools, churches, civic groups, etc. on personal safety. Interacted closely with public schools and assisted with teaching “Just Say No” program to students. Organized various neighborhood activities/cleanup. Was appointed as Bicycle Patrol Coordinator. Assisted with administering the bicycle patrol account, finding discrepancies, bringing financial records up to date, creating files for each bicycle assigned, and inventorying bicycles and equipment. Conducted routine off road patrols on All Terrain Vehicles and maintained ATV’s and equipment.
