After over 40 years spent as a CPA in a public accounting firm, CFO and COO for various hedge funds, broker dealers, fund of funds and private equity firms, I decided at the beginning of 2014 to retire and pursue other interests. While I have enjoyed many of the experiences during this self-imposed sabbatical, I have lately found that I miss the drama, the camaraderie, and the enjoyment of being part of a financial services firm.While I don’t feel I am want another full time CFO position with a fund, I feel my experience in financial services would be a boon to many companies. I think my role would best be served in any of several categories: as a consultant to a startup firm, since I have been the prime person in several startups from scratch during my career; as a consultant on special projects for funds looking to add a new type of product or a new accounting, trading or portfolio management system. Also, as a temporary CFO for firms not ready to hire a full time person, but need someone to get everything in order, or to fill in when a firm’s CFO needs to take a temporary leave of absence. In addition, for any firm which may unfortunately be in the process of liquidating, I can help in managing that process. And, my experience is well suited to work for a family office as a CFO or an advisor after my many years of preparing audit statements and tax returns, in close coordination with accounting and law firms.I have been involved in every aspect of managing an investment firm. I would now like to put to use some of my extensive experience with a firm in need of a steady hand in assuring that their firm runs smoothly and efficiently.
