Designed and built REST APIs and microservices in golang and nodeJS. Enhanced the capability of election and online balloting sites by developing custom Drupal 7 and 8 modules and OO PHP code. Created reliable and efficient tools to assist operations staff with transforming incoming data, and more efficiently managing election, voter, and ballot information.Notable accomplishments:* Architected and developed a REST API and a few microservices in Golang (go) on top of AWS to serve as a scalable backend for our new web software.* Developed various data importers as microservices on AWS Lambda in Golang and NodeJS.* Analyzed, benchmarked, and reported on many various competing backend technologies for use in our next generation software stack.* Tested software performance and analyzed costs for moving from Azure to AWS on our backend technologies, and moved existing software from Azure to AWS.*Promoted to lead developer after one year, overseeing our flagship product.* Utilized Docker, Docker cloud, and Jenkins, to create a continuous deployment system with containers running on Azure.* Architected and developed a system to scrape ballot PDFs into structured, translatable ballot data presented to voters as accessible sample ballots and voter guides. This technology was successfully used in the 2016 general election for some of the nation’s most populous counties.* Developed and engineered features including mass emailing using Sendgrid API, voter registration and account management, blind and multilingual accessible political candidate information and sample ballots, & Google civic information API integration, and tools to process/import various election information for our platform.* Utilized Docker, AWS CodeBuild, and CodeDeploy in conjunction with EC2 to replace Docker Cloud and Azure to simplify our continuous delivery system.* Learned Drupal 7 module development and developed modules for the company’s custom election software.
