Alberta Health and Wellness - Pharmaceutical Information Network (PIN) HL7v3 CeRx Messaging; The Pharmacy Information Network (PIN) is highly complex in its application of business rules. The PIN application is designed to link different health care providers together, giving them confidential access to patient medication histories, equipping them with decision-support tools for prescribing and dispensing and enabling electronic prescriptions. The Alberta Continuing Care Information System (ACCIS) application was designed to incorporate data standards for facility-based long-term care and community-based client information and services. The ACCIS incorporates the InterRAI data standard, a collaborative network of researchers in over 20 countries committed to improving healthcare for persons who are elderly, frail, or disabled. InterRAI has developed tools and applications to work together to form an integrated health information system, which the ACCIS incorporates and utilizes.
