Its not a matter of technology, its a matter of knowing/learning your resources and knowing where to find the answers when you don't know it all off the top of your head. That, and your own personal creativity. After all, airplanes, automobiles, computers, and skyscrapers did not invent people. It was people that created these inventions using the greatest invention of all: the human mind. Most of the time you have to think beyond yourself, your desk, your department, sometimes even your organization - to collect the data that you truly need, to create the statistics in the granularity you really want, in order to analyze and make recommendations from the situation as you see it. Your perspective is nothing more than how you view/parse the world.
