Served as principal legal advisor to over 150 ATF Special Agents and Investigators in one of the largest ATF field divisions, covering five Southwestern states (Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming). Advised and trained ATF personnel, as well as State and local law enforcement officers on Federal firearms and explosives laws and regulations. Advised management with regard to mission strategy and media relations. Appointed as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico. Represented ATF at Federal administrative hearings to deny or revoke Federal firearms and explosives licenses and permits. Worked with Assistant United States Attorneys on ATF related litigation. Represented ATF at meetings with industry members, conferences, and trade seminars. Served as legal advisor to 5 regional Critical Incident Management Response Teams, including the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, and two regional criminal enforcement operations against violent motorcycle gangs.
