AssociateDekker Perich Sabatini - Albuquerque, Nm Aug 2006 - Mar 2011Albuquerque, New Mexico, UsSeismic Rehabilitation of the Veterans Affairs Building One – Albuquerque, NM- Lead Structural Engineer responsible for seismic rehabilitation of a historic, five-story, concrete space frame structure with clay tile-masonry infill built in 1932. Rehabilitation performed in accordance with ASCE 41 using a non-linear structural model developed in SAP 2000 Advanced. The rehabilitation required subjecting the model to a non-linear static pushover analysis for inertial forces from the first dynamic mode. Acceptance criteria for the rehabilitation, consisting of Fiber Reinforced Polymer laminated to the hollow clay tile, required structural stability at the Collapse Prevention level for an earthquake with a 2500 year reoccurrence period (BSE-2 level event) & Life Safety for a BSE-1 level event.Volunteer for Project Hope April 2010. Assignment included structural building assessment of 3 hospitals in Deschapelles, Milot, & Port-au-Prince Haiti for damage following the January 12th 2010 earthquake. Ft Yuma Medical Office Building – Yuma, CA- Structural Engineer responsible for design of a 74,000 square foot, one- story, multi-purpose medical office building for the Indian Health Service. Project aspects include: Seismic Design Category D with OCBF lateral system; plans & calculations generated in metric units; gravity & lateral framing modeling with RAM steel. Foundation design completed with RAM Foundation.GSG, Clark County, NV- Structural Engineer of Record responsible for design of three tilt-up concrete medical office buildings. Design of panels completed in PCA Wall. Project aspects include: design of connections between girders & wall panels, wall panels to wall panels, & panels to foundation through application of ACI 318-02 Appendix D; Seismic Design Category D structure; gravity & lateral framing modeling with RAM steel.Residential Projects: Chaco River Apartments – Shiprock NM, Bella Vista Apartments – Clovis NM, YES Housing – Anthony, NM -
Senior Structural EngineerStanley Consultants - Muscatine, Ia Aug 2004 - Aug 2006University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA- Structural Engineer of Record responsible for design of a 50,000 square foot braced frame structure to house new University of Iowa East Campus Chiller Water Production Facility. Structure’s proximity to the Iowa River necessitated anchoring of mat foundation supported on drilled shafts to bedrock. Rock anchoring required to resist buoyancy generated from basement being twenty feet below water table. University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA- Structural Engineer responsible for super structure design for a 100,000 square foot braced frame structure to house new University of Iowa West Chilled Water Production Facility. Client desired building exterior to have close resemblance to surrounding campus structures thereby requiring special exterior Architectural treatments and structural masonry design. Space limitations required placement of two 50’ W x 80’L x 50’H concrete cooling towers on top of steel space frame. Such placement necessitated construction of composite concrete and steel beam roof to minimize deflection issues between towers and supporting steel space frame. University of Illinois, Champaign, IL- Structural Engineer of Record for installation of new ash silo and ash piping bridge to remove bottom ash from furnaces at University power facility. Responsible for design of deep foundation on difficult soils to support 130 foot tall ash silo. Significant difficulties posed by wind, seismic, and thermal loadings.

Project ManagerLarson Engineering Of Illinois - Naperville, Il Jan 2004 - Aug 2004Single Family Residence, Chicago IL- Three-story masonry load bearing home with total living area of 4,500 square feet. Poor soils and settlement issues required design of a mat foundation to support the structure. Other design aspects included: design of web openings in steel beams for duct passage, wooden trusses, and stairway from basement to third floor.Arete 3, Various Locations, IL - Design and project management for warehouses in various locations throughout Chicago. Typical structure consisted of tilt-up concrete wall panels supported on frost wall or grade beam foundations with metal deck roofs supported on K, KCS, or LDH joists. Loadings developed from BOCA or IBC 2000 and included snow, wind and seismic. Robert Morris College Culinary Institute, Chicago, IL- Renovation of existing structure built in 1890 for use as a Culinary Arts Teaching Center. Project included research into design practice current with structure, evaluation of cast iron columns and beams, coupon testing of beams, evaluation of existing terra-cotta arch floor system and design of structural systems to support new kitchen equipment.Frankfort Middle School, Frankfort, IL - Project engineer involved with design of 200,000 square foot middle school. Activities included design of the structural steel space frames with masonry shear walls, connection details and foundations. Performed extensive work on RAM Steel model for structure.

Structural EngineerStanley Consultants - Chicago, Il Apr 2000 - Jan 2004Abbott Labs - North Chicago, IL- Structural Engineer involved with retrofit of existing boiler house to allow for move in and installation of 2 - 200 kip package boilers. Project required removal of four 30-foot interior building columns (W12x161) and design of two transfer beams (45’-W36x210) to carry existing structure loading and new loading imposed by secondary equipment weighing in excess of 100 kips. Secondary design included new platforms, steam pipe and vent stack supports, boiler outlet gas duct supports, and equipment pads. Loyola University - Lewis Towers, Chicago, IL-- Structural Engineer responsible for penthouse expansion on the 18th and 19th floors of existing structure, build in 1926, in downtown Chicago. Materials used include masonry (CMU and brick veneer), light steel framing, structural steel, and composite steel with concrete floor slabs. All components for the expansion had to fit into an existing service elevator, since a crane was not available to facilitate the expansion. Space limitations in service elevator required design of several spliced connections and added considerable staging difficulty.Pillsbury - Belvidere, IL-- Structural Engineer responsible for retrofit of existing covered railroad loading dock into a food processing building (25’H x 40’W x 320’L). Project aspects included design of three CMU (25’H x 40’W) walls, strengthening of existing building frame to hold a 30 kip ammonia refrigeration system, architectural details associated with replacement of standing seam metal roof and insulated roofing material, addition of slabs on grade, and a cast in place 320’ long retaining wall.Ford Motor Company - Chicago, IL-- Forensic engineering study to determine cause for failure of 400 feet of tied back sheet pile wall. Wall served to hold up the southern bank of the Calumet River and retained 30 feet of soil.
