Eric Machum joined Metcalf & Company in June 2006. He obtained his law degree from the Universidad Catolica Andres Bello in Caracas, Venezuela. Eric also earned an LLM in 2006 and an LLB in 2010 from Dalhousie University in Halifax, with a Marine Law Certificate. While at law school Eric was recognised with the CCH Canadian Limited award for highest mark in Legal Research and Writing.Prior to coming to Metcalf & Company he worked for four years at Clyde & Co. in Caracas, first as an articling student and then as a solicitor, with a practice directed to maritime law and corporate/commercial matters. Eric has experience with P&I and marine insurance matters, charterparties, ship registration, cargo and oil pollution claims, and corporate/commercial law generally.Eric has supplemented his legal experience by serving with Atlantic Towing Limited as a cadet on its coastal and harbour tugs in Canada. He also teaches part-time in the Dalhousie University Marine Affairs Program and is a certified recreational scuba diving instructor. In December 2016, Eric was appointed Honorary Consul for Finland in Nova Scotia.
