Since 2009 ,I have spent 5 shipping seasons in the Arctic (Baffin Island and West Coast of Greenland) towing Seismic Streamers and Air Gun Arrays. Other projects in the Arctic involved Multibeam ,Side-Scan Sonar and Coring. I also have spent considerable time in the Canadian Arctic doing hydrographic survey. Other areas worked in include most of the West Atlantic, Caribbean and Pacific from Panama to Alaska.Previous to this I have worked on composite unit tugs and tankers. At that time I held an Advanced Tanker Endorsement and SOTO certificate.Geophysical and environmental work has involved ROV, Undersea Cable Survey, Bottom Sampling and Coring, Drop and Towed Camera/Video, towing Air Gun Arrays and the deployment and recovery of Ocean Bottom Seismographs (OBS).I have done consultation in Commercial Fisheries with over 25 years experience involving lobster, herring, mackerel, tuna, clam, scallop and groundfish.I have been involved in the development and implementation of several Safety Management Systems resulting in the issue of full term DOC and ISM Certificates.In 2013 I started working part time as Chief Officer with Northumberland and Bay Ferries Ltd. This has developed into a full time position as Master and in June 2019 as Senior Master.Northumberland and Bay Ferries Ltd. operate Ro/Ro passenger vessels between Wood Islands, Prince Edward Island and Caribou, Nova Scotia.I hold a Master Mariner Certificate of Competency.
