About Eric Mannella

Eric Mannella is a Canadian artist and co-founder of Atelier de Brésoles. His personal work focuses on portraiture and the human figure. In addition to teaching at Atelier de Brésoles, Eric Mannella is an instructor of artistic anatomy and drawing at Syn Studio in Montreal. He has an MFA cum laude from the New York Academy of Art and a BFA from York University in Toronto. Mr. Mannella is the recipient of a Forbes Foundation Travel Grant to Château Balleroy and the Prince of Wales Scholarship from the Prince of Wales Foundation. Mr. Mannella was featured in the 2007 documentary film L'Art du Nu. He has given artist talks and painting demonstrations at a number of arts institutions including Concordia University, S.U.N.Y. New Paltz, Algonquin College, and ArtNOW Westmount. He has been a juror for the Pastel Society of Eastern Canada and the Institut des arts figuratifs.

    We offer intensive training in figurative art to students in the Montreal area. We also offer online classes to students from around the world. Our program is based on the academic tradition. We begin with drawing methods that teach students to draw accurately from observation and achieve a realistic effect in their work. Once students have mastered the fundamentals of drawing, they have several options: drawing from the live model, painting in oil, artistic anatomy, or continued study of historical techniques of drawing or painting.
