Helped merge two companies’ technologies to create the first viable Voice over IP / IP PBX system in the market. UCN is still a Call Center leader using said platform.Created a cross functional team which reduced product development lifecycle in half. When my entire R&D team laid-off, I was offered the VP of Marketing due to the inter-departmental efforts I’d formed and lead.Led 43 engineers, at age 35, to build the first Voice over IP (VoIP) telephony product sold by any telephone company in the nation.

While stationed at Camp Pendleton, my staff of 40 data, 100 telephony and 25 trunk-radio personnel served 100,000 people in 23 communities, covering 195 square miles. I was selected to this position to upgrade the base infrastructure with modern technology, because of thesis work completed on Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM). With a $22 million budget we successfully implemented a converged voice, video and data network. Near the end of this two-year project, our efforts combined with newer technologies, saved another unit $15 million in projected facility upgrade costs. By invitation, I spoke at “ATM Year 97” about Camp Pendleton’s novel infrastructure. As a lieutenant (Director level), I filled a colonel’s role (VP) on the general’s (CEO) staff. My performance resulted in selection over 133 peers at a time when only 7% got promoted.
