I have more than 15 years’ experience in helping companies navigate through their unclaimed property compliance issues including: Delaware VDA assistance, audit defense, development of policies and procedures and annual compliance. In addition, I am an active member of the Unclaimed Property Professionals Organization (UPPO) and have been since 2006. I have served as chairperson of the UPPO Paid Virtual Learning Subcommittee for the last 5 years and was a speaker at the annual conference every year for the last 10 years. I have presented on multiple topics including Due Diligence Best Practices, Implementation of Policies and Procedures, Initial Compliance Options (including the filing of VDAs) and Implications of Working with Third Party Administrators.Over the years, I have assisted multiple companies in a variety of industries and sizes complete their VDA with the State of Delaware and have built solid relationships with those both representing Delaware and within the State’s office. Along with building trust and respect at the State, I have historically fought for my clients to ensure they escheat the lowest possible liability while remaining within compliance. A couple examples to note:• While engaged with a major international pharmaceutical company, my analysis was instrumental in identifying nearly $2 million in overpayments and duplicate payments not found by a previous firm. This was a clear and tangible savings to their bottom line.• Previously, I was contracted to review the books and records of a multi-billion-dollar food producer as part of their goal to get into and remain in compliance. Leveraging system knowledge along with identification of multiple accounting errors, I was influential in saving the company in excess of $200,000.
