Under the direction of the Battalion Chief, is responsible for the management of assigned station and crew. This is a management position that works within the guidelines provided by Department policy, procedure, and evolutions, requiring the same of subordinates. Requires independent judgment and the ability to make decisions in emergency operations and non-emergency situations, including personnel management. The position may also be assigned administrative responsibility for a designated program or service. Within the assigned area of responsibility, cooperates with other captains to provide leadership and personnel management, training, emergency response and preparedness, fire prevention, safety, resource management and community relations.
