Throughout my journey, I have always had a deep desire to help and advocate for others while giving respect to their culture, circumstances and desires. Because of this empathetic nature and willingness to help others, I completed my schooling as an occupational therapy assistant in 2017; a rewarding career which I enjoy and have been doing since. In this role I can make positive changes by helping others regain independence through, not only thoughtful therapeutic interventions and education but listening, understanding and giving them a voice. I currently work as an occupational therapy assistant/injury prevention specialist for Fit-For-Work, a leader in the injury prevention and management industry. My career involves working with leaders and employees alike to prevent work related injuries through ergonomic education, body mechanics/wellness training as well as injured worker outpatient therapy. I am an engaging therapist who follows the plan of care from an OTR by completing skilled therapy from evaluation through progression to discharge. Therapies also include time in production areas with workers completing work hardening activities and re-educating them in ergonomics and body-mechanics. I understand and complete medical documentation for therapeutic interventions and write job analyses within manufacturing settings. I have constructive conversations in production areas with employees and supervisors with respect to their ergonomic concerns helping them find solutions for those concerns. Solutions include workstation modifications, work hardening or wellness/body mechanic training. I have an excellent rapport with facility EHS staff and human resources in regard to communication about ergonomic concerns and solutions.My former career path as an industrial maintenance technician, team supervisor, within logistics and machine operation have helped build a foundation of trust, leadership, problem solving and integrity.
