During the last two years at Engelhard, directed the manufacturing operations at a gold refinery that produced 1.4 million troy ounces of 24 carat (99.99% pure) gold each year. As Operations Manager, directed three groups (two operational and one maintenance), established scheduling priorities, managed interpersonal and inter-group relationships, evaluated personnel performance, and analyzed operational practices looking for methods of reducing the operational cost of the processes while maintaining product purity. The major accomplishments included: - Supervised the implementation of an upgraded metal accounting system that allowed for delegated authority. - Successfully completed the installation of a new process system that enabled lower-grade materials to be processed on-site. Managed the environmental, health and safety program during all four years at Engelhard. The program was expanded so that the facility maintained 100% compliance with the regulatory requirements. The critical need was to expand the training program to meet all of the necessary regulations. In addition, a number of the observing and recording requirements were delegated to the first line supervisors so that the line operations personnel maintained an understanding of how their actions impacted the facility compliance status.
