Design functions include sag and load calculations on electrical conductors, strength and load calculations on utility poles, field coordination and design on pole attachment rideouts, post inspection rideouts, creation of construction documents using Bentley Microstation detailing required make ready, cost estimation, work management system entry and tracking of project status, construction status tracking, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) design using GE Smallworld applications;Design and manage fiber optic projects for ADSS self-supporting fiber optic attachments for electric utility, which include route design, splice and slack/storage equipment locations, installation methods and hardware, and guying requirements;Design electric underground projects for strategic customers including underground feeder route and installation, padmounted equipment requirements and installation, and electrical service requirements;Design electric underground projects for electric utility for new feeder installation and cable replacement projects. Projects included extensive bore requirements under waterway and installation of all overhead and underground equipment to ensure electrical reliability and all regulatory codes were met;Design electric overhead projects mandated by regulatory organizations to ensure National Electric Safety Code (NESC) clearance requirements were met for electrical infrastructure.
Ensured field and office personnel had adequate and appropriate work loads to meet company and customer goals and objectives;Working knowledge and understanding of National Electric Safety Code (NESC) standards;Performed Quality Assurance/Quality Control audits on employee's work to ensure all designs meet NESC specifications, respective customer construction standards, conform to drafting and GIS accuracy, as well as field data accuracy;Managed and organized specific projects in direct conjunction with Project Supervisor and Manager of Operations;Performed technical support for computer software related problems including Microsoft applications, GE Smallworld, Bentley Microstation, Asset / Facilities Management Systems, GIS applications, Work Management Systems, and PDA equipment;Designed and engineered electric utilities infrastructure to adhere to NESC and construction standards;Performed negotiations with various utilities for space allocations, resolution of clearance issues between utilities, and accuracy of licensing for utility attachments;Maintained open working relationship with customers including update meetings, project-start meetings, workload and production capacities, and product demonstrations;Ensured timeliness and accurate completion of projects by working directly with customers and internal staff;Excellent computer skills including, Microsoft Office applications, GIS software (GE Smallworld and Bentley based products), limited experience using ESRI based GIS software, Work Management Systems, Asset Management / Facilities Management Systems, Bentley Microstation drafting software, Bentley Expert Designer application, and Microsoft Windows.Excellent written and oral communication skills.
