•Ensures the reliable operation of the Cps Energy electric system and compliance with the Cps Energy Protocols and Operating Guides, including applicable operating and NERC Reliability Standards.•Responsible for frequency control of the electric system and deployment of ancillary services.•Manages congestion on the transmission system and directs voltage control.•Ensures all required information is posted and recorded for settlement, accounting and auditing.•During abnormal operating conditions or system problems, evaluates the situation, directs and coordinates the solution with operating entities •Implements and coordinates time error corrections, operating condition notices, advisories, watches, and emergency operations plans.•May provide on the job training or help oversee the work of other less experienced system operators.•May act as mentor and advisor to less experienced system operators.•Works independently on assignments and tasks.•Assists in developing tools, processes and procedures that enhance system reliability and departmental/organizational efficiencies

Complies with established Cps Energy safety and operating rules, procedures, and guidelines. Responsible for reporting unsafe practices to a supervisor.· Complies with established Cps Energy Information Security Handbook, policies, procedures, and guidelines. Responsible for reporting suspected information security incidents to Tech Support.· Optimizes the practices, policies, procedures and programs to operate the electric distribution system in a safe, reliable and efficient manner with the welfare of employees, members and the public in mind.· Follows established operating practices and procedures as they relate to member restoration, switching and operating for scheduled and emergency work.· Utilizes the outage management system to efficiently analyze, prioritize, and manage outages.· Controls and operates devices connected to the distribution system, typically beginning with the substation circuit breaker.· Monitors all aspects of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.· Dispatches employees for service related issues.· Prepares switching orders. · Receives member and customer calls related to electric and gas service.· Good interpersonal communication skills to provide clear communications to maintain proper relationships with other departments, field crews and the public.· Informs employees of abnormal system conditions, major outages and equipment related problems.· Follows CPS Energy, NERC specifications, safety procedures, and all federal, state and local standards.· Strong understanding of the company’s electric and gas distribution systems and basic characteristics of gas and electricity.
