1. I assist to provide security policy guidance and management support to the Chief of Security and the Security Management Team enabling effective programme planning, implementation and delivery of security policies and procedures at the United Nations Headquarters in New York 2. I help to review the impact of the potential security factors and trends on the United Nations security and safety planning, programme design and delivery3. I conduct threat and risk assessment, identify and implement appropriate risk mitigation measures for the UN Headquarters (UNHQ). 4. I help to review security clearance requests for UNHQ personnel travelling to risk areas to ensure the requests are in compliance with residual risk decision making process and Minimum Operating Security Standards.5. I help to monitor MOSS compliance of UNHQ personnel and equipment; providing orientation and training to international and national staff on security guidelines, communication procedures, travel precautions, emergency procedures and restriction of movements in New York and field missions.6. I assist to ensure appropriate professional liaison with local security authorities, law enforcement agencies and counterparts in New York and diplomatic missions 7. I work closely with United Nations Department of Security and Safety (UNDSS) to ensure that the UNHQ security and safety procedures conform to the UN security framework; and provide inputs and assist UNDSS in establishing, maintaining and updating the security plan and contingency plans in accordance with the UN Security Policy Manual8. I conduct periodic appropriate security assessments of UNHQ premises and equipment and advice on shortfalls in security preparedness with recommended improvements and solutions. I also assist the UN Security and Safety Services (UNSSS) in developing and implementing office security requirements for the field missions9. I conduct investigation on security-related incidents and submit report. 2. I monitor and evaluate the security situation in the field as well as updating the security information systems of the tribunal. 3. I conduct and maintain the minimum operational security standards (MOSS) and residential security standards (MORSS). 4. I conduct security threat assessment for the field offices, and coordinate very important person (VIP) travels and close protection duties. 5. I conduct security briefings for staff members going for field missions and give security advisory. 6. I lead a team of security officers in escorting accused persons to and fro the courtrooms, and assign their daily tasks. 7. I ensure safety and security of staff, visitors, detainees and legal representatives on the tribunal’s premises 8. I supervise and conduct proactive 100% access screening of personnel and property and ensure smooth working of Pass and Identity (ID) system. 9. I supervise shifts and plan daily schedules for the security officers. I supervise and operate the security control and monitor the security situation via the Close Circuit Television (CCTV). 10. I provide security and escort to Very Important Persons (VIPs) and United Nations (UN) staff on mission. 11. I perform any other duty as may be assigned by the Chief of Security through the chain of command

I prepared, maintained and updated the security plan and contingency plans for the Guard duties unit of the Ghana Police Service. I prepared a comprehensive Threat Assessment to include all locations in the areas where the personnel of the service (Ghana Police) resided. I maintained updated staff lists. I established and managed a warden system for the Service Headquarters. I prepared travel and security advisories for all personnel of the Service Headquarters. I coordinated emergency medical evacuation for the Service Headquarters. I established and maintained contact with National security agencies as well as International agencies to obtain the best information and protection for staff and operations. I ensured that all security and communication equipments are functioning properly and in good order. I developed, implemented and supervised a radio communication monitoring mechanism and ensured routine radio checks. I ensured radio communication training was provided to wardens, staff members and others (consultants) as and when necessary. I established and maintained communication links with other agencies that are important security players in the Nation. I assisted the Director-General in charge f Operations (D-G/OPS) in developing and implementing office security requirements. I supervised and maintained an access control mechanism (visitor/vehicle screening) for the Headquarters’ premises. I conducted office security surveys and recommended physical security measures to the D-G/OPS. I ensured that fire safety arrangements (fire extinguishers, smoke detectors etc.) I also performed any other tasks assigned by the DG/OPS I also served the United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) and helped the drafting of the SOP of the Police Component of Darfur Integrated Task force (DITF) of the African Union Mission in Sudan (AMIS) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Within delegated authority of the Chief Staff Officer to the Inspector-General of the Ghana Police Service, I performed a wide range of Security, Protection, and Administrative and Coordination duties. I was a focal point for security matters; I represented and articulated the security interest of the Ghana Police Service in a range of forums. I drafted security policies, plans, procedures and standing orders necessary for the effective protection of the services’ facilities, information, informants, complainants, suspects and witnesses; I monitored and ensured that security regulations formulated are in accordance with the country’s agreements and protocols. I conducted site surveys and made physical security, safety and technical support recommendations. I conducted security and safety investigations and provided reports to the top management to include preventive recommendation and or other actions, and coordinated with other stakeholders in managing crises and responding to security and safety incidents. I successfully served the United Nations Mission in Bosnia Herzegovina (UNMIBH) from September 2000 to September 2001. I also successfully obtained my Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science with Sociology while I combined work and schooling.

Under the supervision of the Senior Operations Officer, I provided security coverage for persons and property. I provided close protection when required for special envoys. I conducted security check on premises, I conducted mobile, foot and beat patrols; I apprehended and arrested offenders; I maintained records. I investigated criminal cases and prosecuted offenders. I prepared a draft security plan for the Service (Ghana Police Service), including all aspects related to elaboration, development, implementation and updating. I maintained continuing lines of communication with Security focal points and other Security agencies in ensuring maximum Security coordination. I maintained evaluation of evacuation routes and resources for use in emergencies. I ensured availability of vehicle and fuel supply for Operational purposes. I ensured that fire detection and fighting kits are within reach on the premises. I conducted periodic physical office security checks on facilities.I successfully completed my six-month Probationary period of service, passed the General Certificate of Education (G.C.E) Advanced Level examination and got promoted to the rank of General Corporal and Sergeant. I mentored and supervised the newly posted recruit constable to the efficient performance of their basic duties. I also appraised their Performance, advised where necessary and or report to Senior Operations Officer.

I was trained to maintain a high standard of professionalism and demonstrate superior conduct consistent with the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics. I was trained in practical and theoretical Police duties. I trained and practiced how to conduct Patrol duties. I conducted criminal and accident investigations. I learnt how to interview victims, suspects and witnesses toward the effective completion of a case or through criminal litigation. I trained on how to gather and process evidence. I also trained on how administer first aid as needed in emergency situations, assist the Fire Department and other public safety agencies as required.I successfully graduated, having completed all modules of the Police Training Course, I paced the 35th position out of 246 Police recruit graduates
