Battalion trained and fought valiantly side-by-side with their Afghan partners during multiple large-scale operations against the Taliban. Dramatically improved the Afghan Army professionalism by helping them institute an Operational Readiness Cycle and open an Artillery Center of Excellence for all of southern Afghanistan.• Conducted the first-ever training exercise at Fort Knox, KY incorporating virtual gaming and constructive simulation with high-risk live fire training to simulate the rigors of combat at home station. General Officer in charge of Army training praised the event for its innovation in preparing soldiers for combat while saving the Army money. • Effectively communicated through a variety of means with Afghan partners, spouses and families, and the American public resulting in extremely close relationships with Afghan counterparts; unified spouses and families; and multiple radio, TV, and print publications about the unit.
