Maintain and store tools and equipment in good working order. • Assist Rig Mechanic and Rig Electrician when required. Work cooperatively as part of the rig management team. • Communicate with manufacturer’s representatives to review new equipment and/or troubleshoot equipment problems. • As Assistant Mechanic (12/08-4/11), ensured efficient and continual functioning of all mechanical, centrifugal and auxiliary machinery and equipment on assigned oil drilling rig with a primary focus on thruster systems. • Serviced and repaired other systems that included engines, compressors, hull and deck machinery, portable water and sewage treatment systems, drill water manifold and pumps, bilge system, fire pumps, centrifugal and auxiliary pumps, drilling equipment, and cranes.

• Ensured strict adherence to rig mobilization procedures as directed in the operations manual and by the Barge Engineer. • Checked for water intrusion in bearings, checked oil samples of main strut gearbox, HPU, steering gearbox and motor bearings, checked filter/separator system, checked filter indicator gauge on blower heat exchanger, cleaned heat exchangers and isolated saltwater cooling lines. • Checked for brake pad wear, cleaned knuckle joints and brake pad pressure plates, replaced brake pads, rebuilt fluid end of centrifugal thruster cooling pump, and inspected pump impeller and main casing for wear. • Developed personal expertise in thruster emergency shutdown mechanism and procedures for resetting ESD. Isolated thrusters for maintenance or repair. Understood normal operating parameters for each system, pressures, temperature and flow rates, etc. Employed systematic troubleshooting procedures for any out-of-parameter readings. Maintained daily logs of each thruster.• Maintained auxiliary column equipment; oil/water separators, sewage units, saltwater, drill water, fuel, mud, ventilation, ballast and bilge systems. Performed weekly and per tour inspections to ensure hull integrity was maintained. • Employed emergency procedures if lower hull integrity was compromised (i.e., sounding alarms, isolation of systems of chambers to limit loss of stability, backup systems, evacuating water from chambers, emergency repairs, etc. • Checked operating parameters (pressures, temperatures, etc.) as defined by mechanic. • Performed routine maintenance and lubrication of all engines and equipment. Maintained daily log of engines and generators. • Monitored all equipment alarms, fire extinguishing, piping systems, fuel-oil purifier, and centrifuge systems in the engine room.• Performed main engine prestart and start-up procedures. Used cold-start system to start main engines and put it online.
