Eric Rankin is an award-winning CBC reporter and producer. He has won numerous honours for his work, including the 2018 Canadian Screen Award for best local reportage, the 2017 RTDNA national and regional awards for In-depth/Investigative reporting (for “The Frontline of Fentanyl”), the 2015 RTDNA regional TV award for Best In-depth/Investigative reporting (“Casino Money”), the 2009 Jack Webster award for Best TV Reporting of 2009, the Canadian Association of Journalists 2008 award for Investigative Journalism (“Prescription for Profit”) and was nominated for “Best Daily Excellence” by the CAJ in 2010.Before becoming part of the “CBC News Investigates” team, Eric had a long national and international career with the CBC—including stints as a war correspondent in Baghdad, the former Yugoslavia and Nicaragua.He reported from around the world-- from Iraq to India, Bosnia to Brazil. With the CBC current affairs program "The Journal", he covered the Balkans conflict, The Gulf War, Sandinista-Contra tensions in Nicaragua, and was on the front line of Canada's Oka Crisis. He also created and produced international current affairs programs for CBC's all news network-- "Pacific Rim Report", "Foreign Assignment" and "Hemispheres" (also aired on ABC Australia).He received a national Gemini nomination for Pacific Rim Report.Eric is currently with the Investigative Unit of CBC News Vancouver.
