At Children’s Health, Paramedics function in a multi-faceted role. They are not only an integral part of a three person specialty care team assisting in patient care alongside a nurse and a respiratory therapist, but also function as the Flight Safety Officer during fixed and rotor wing transport flights. RCEMS is a county based private EMS company that utilizes a dual paramedic configuration providing both prehospital 911 response, as well as specialty care inter facility transportation for the hospitals within the county. Advanced protocols allowed for the standing order use of RSI and field initiation of mechanical ventilation as well as a wide variety of pharmaceutical interventions. Prior to leaving my full-time position I functioned as a Field Training Officer and part-time dispatcher.
