Profile bio

About Eric Rice

I am a curious space systems engineer and manager with a technical background in fault protection and cyber-physical systems security. My favorite problems are the ones that seem impossibly complex, and I've spent my career seeking out the most interesting problems from crashing a spacecraft into a comet on Deep Impact to puzzling out how to protect the power grid from failures induced by cyber attacks on smart grid systems. I currently split my time between a flight project management role as the Mission Systems Manager for the SPHEREx project and in an institutional leadership role creating knowledge, guidance, and requirements for mission cyber as the lead of the Mission Protection Office in JPL's Office of the Chief Engineer.

Listed skills include Root Cause Analysis, Engineering, Systems Engineering, Management, and 24 others.
