I always had an interest in hardware and now I had the opportunity to learn all about it while I was selling it to builders, handymen (handy persons) and the general public.This filled in the gap just before retiring from the work force in 2006.

While I was in PMG -Australian Telecommunication Commission - Telecom Australia - Telecom I started as a Technician in Training and the qualified as a Technician. Being in the right place at the right time I became a Technical Officer in the Radio section working on HF, VHF and UHF radios. Next I was in the Radio Instrument section fixing oscilloscopes, television monitors and oscillators etc. Computers arrived, so I was then fixing computer monitors as well. This then found its own section which I headed called the Computer Repair Centre, fixing everything to do with computers. Following this I was in the IT section heading MSMail for SA/NT and then on an IT Helpdesk as an IT4 officer...I became redundant from the IT position in the year 2000 after a restructure but was picked up by the Fault Reduction Group within 24hrs and had an overpaid position as an Administrative Officer.This was a great little group to work with and within this group we looked after cable testing with robot testing, safety problems with pits and manholes etc.This lasted for just over 2 years before it was decided to break up the group and send the jobs to Melbourne and Perth. I decided that I liked Adelaide too much and put my hand up for a package - thank you very much! So that was 34 years in PMG, ATC, Telecom Australia, Telecom, Testra with a very enjoyable and varied career.
